NotebookLM Source FAQ

Structured answers about Web Import, Book Import, Discord Import, Auto Sync, Chrome extension setup, pricing, Discord credits, Auto Sync Pro access, and privacy for NotebookLM imports.

What can NotebookLM Source import into NotebookLM today?

NotebookLM Source currently supports four live import types: Web Import for links, browser tabs, page links, RSS feeds, and YouTube; Book Import for PDF and EPUB files; Discord Import for exported Discord chats; and Auto Sync for recurring imports from YouTube history and X bookmarks.

How does Book Import handle PDF and EPUB files?

Book Import is live today for PDF and EPUB files. PDF import supports whole-book import, generated or custom page ranges, and PDF or Markdown output; EPUB import supports full-book import or chapter-tree selection, TOC recovery when needed, and PDF or Markdown output.

Which chat import options are available now?

Chat Import is partially live today. Discord Import is active now for CSV and JSON exports, while Telegram, WhatsApp, LINE, and KakaoTalk are listed as upcoming import options and are not live yet.

Do I need the Chrome extension, and what can I do on the web app?

Direct NotebookLM imports currently run through the Chrome extension. The web app is where you review pricing, Discord import task history, Auto Sync rule status, feedback, and roadmap pages rather than starting Web Import or Book Import directly.

How do Discord Import credits, Auto Sync plans, and pricing work?

The Pricing page shows the available plans. Discord Import lets you preview required credits, image count, processing mode, and estimated wait time before task creation, and Auto Sync operations require Pro Monthly.

Is my data used to train AI models?

By default, no. To run import parsing, formatting, OCR, and sync operations, we may send your inputs to third-party AI providers and infrastructure vendors on our behalf, but we do not use your inputs or outputs to train our underlying models, and we do not allow vendors to train on your data unless you give explicit consent.

Which import path should I start with?

The best starting path depends on your source type. Use Web Import for links, tabs, page links, RSS feeds, and YouTube; Book Import for PDF and EPUB files; Discord Import for exported Discord chats; and Auto Sync when you want recurring imports from YouTube history or X bookmarks.
